Lightspeed has three different restaurant products — K-Series, O-Series (formerly Kounta), and L-Series. The export paths differ slightly, but all support clean CSV downloads. About 20 minutes of work on your side, then we handle everything else.
If you're not sure, just check the URL of your Back Office or ask Lightspeed support. The export menus look slightly different on each.
Cloud restaurant POS, formerly known as Lightspeed Restaurant. Back Office URL contains k-series. Most common in Europe and the GCC.
Originally Kounta, rebranded to Lightspeed O-Series. Common in Australia and the UK. Back Office URL often contains kounta.
Originally iKentoo, now L-Series. Common in Switzerland and France. Back Office is called "Restaurant Manager."
If you're on O-Series or L-Series, scroll down — the specific paths differ. The overall flow is the same.
Open your Lightspeed K-Series Back Office in any browser. Log in with an account that has menu management permissions — staff accounts can't run exports.
From the navigation menu, select Menu → Item list. Click the export button and choose either CSV or XLSX (both work). The file downloads to your computer's default downloads folder.
This step preserves your menu structure — which items appear on which "screens" (e.g. Drinks, Mains, Desserts). For each menu, click its name, then More actions → Export.
You'll get a small CSV file per menu listing each item's SKU and the screen it belongs to.
Click Export. By default Lightspeed exports all customer data — you can deselect specific fields if you want, but for migration we recommend keeping everything checked.
If you want Shareabill's analytics populated from day one, run a sales export covering the last 6–12 months. The exact path depends on which Lightspeed product you use — in K-Series, look under Reports → Sales; in L-Series go to Restaurant Manager → Export Data and pull receipts, receipt items, and payments separately.
Drop your CSVs into the upload link we send after you submit the onboarding form. Files are encrypted, only your assigned migration specialist can open them.
Within 4–6 business days you'll receive a side-by-side preview: your old Lightspeed menu on one side, the rebuilt Shareabill version on the other. Approve when it looks right and your QR codes activate.
If you're on Kounta / O-Series, the paths look like this:
From the Back Office, navigate to Products. Click the cloud icon with the downward arrow (export). Choose CSV format.
Same pattern — go to Customers in the Back Office and use the export icon.
If you have more than 450 items, O-Series asks you to split the file into multiple imports. For exports, this isn't a hard limit — but if your file has 9,000+ items, give us a heads-up so we can plan the rebuild.
L-Series uses the "Restaurant Manager" web app rather than a Back Office.
Use the dedicated Export Data page. You'll see CSV exports for products, categories, modifiers, taxes, and users — run each one and save them all.
Navigate to Users → Customers in Restaurant Manager. The export downloads automatically as a CSV.
Not reliably. Use a desktop or laptop with a real browser — the export buttons aren't fully supported in the iOS or Android apps. Easier with a keyboard and mouse anyway.
Yes. K-Series supports up to 9,999 items per import; if your file is larger we split it on our end before processing. No additional steps for you.
Lightspeed sites under the same company share a master product list. Export once at the parent level — we'll associate items with each site during the import.
Submit your onboarding form and a migration specialist will reach out within 24 hours — they'll confirm exactly which Lightspeed series you have and walk you through the right export path.
